Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is an American adventure comedy film, based on the the video game franchise published by Sega and Sonic Team. The film was directed by Jeff Fowler, produced by Sega Sammy Group, Original Film,Marza Animation Planet and Blur Studio, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It was released in theaters on March 30, 2022 in the Philippines, March 31 in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, and April 1 in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Treaca, followed by a release in the United States and Canada on April 8.
After the events of the first film, Doctor Robotnik returns to Earth to find the Master Emerald with his new partner Knuckles the Echidna. Meanwhile, Sonic befriends Miles "Tails" Prower, a two-tailed fox, and they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into Robotnik's hands.
After its large box-office success, it spawned a sequel; Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is set to release in December 2024. It also spawned a television series, entitled Knuckles, set to release in April 2024.
